WHEN THE GHOST SCREAMS: TRUE STORIES OF VICTIMS WHO HAUNT byLeslie Rule (2006) "When the Ghost Screams: True Stories of Victims Who Haunt" explores the world of wandering spirits by traveling across time and distance to hot-spots for hauntings and the paranormal. She then weaves the true, related stories of untimely death and strange phenomena together from the testimony of eyewitnesses and her own exhaustive research. With considerable attention to detail, Leslie Rule retells the stories of the restless dead, narrating the events surrounding their passing and telling of the rumored ghosts seen afterward. Chapters include: The Ice Files. These old, unsolved cases of homicide have long gone cold, but they may be the key to the question of why certain places have been haunted for generations. Witch Hunt. This chapter exhumes the old stories of witch trials in Boston and Salem, placing them historically parrallel to a wave of hauntings reported in those locations. Victims of War. An old naval shipyard, Gettysberg and other sites related to war are explored as places where ghosts from past conflicts continue to linger in this world. As Leslie Rule says in her introduction, "They are clamoring for attention now. In hotels and cafes and hospitals and schools and within private residences, they are trying to make us notice." Pick up a copy and listen to what they have to say. $14.95

A fright factor rating is listed for each hike, along with information on trailhead access, maps, and hike difficulty levels. ANIMAL GHOSTS OR ANIMAL HAUNTINGS AND THE HEREAFTER by Elliott O'Donnell (2003) 1913. It is to testify to a future existence for animals and to create a wider interest in it that Mr. O'Donnell has undertaken to compile this book; and his object, he believes, can best be achieved in his own way, the way of the investigator of haunted places. The mere fact that there are manifestations of "dead" people proves some kind of life after death for human beings; and happily the same proof is available with regard to future life for animals; indeed there are as many animal phantasms as human - perhaps more; hence, if the human being lives again, so do his dumb friends. Contents: cats; dogs; horses and the unknown; bulls, cows and pigs; wild animals and the unknown; inhabitants of the jungle; birds and the unknown. $30.95
